Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Rushed to Hospital After Drug Overdose

Cher’s 48-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, was rushed to a California hospital Saturday morning after reportedly overdosing in Joshua Tree, according to TMZ.

As of Sunday, he remains under medical care and is said to be “receiving the best care possible.” Insiders told the outlet that Elijah is “lucky to have survived.”

The exact substances involved haven’t been disclosed, but sources close to the family say Cher, 79, is fully focused on her son’s health, doing “everything she can to get him the help he needs.”

Elijah, the only child of Cher and late Southern rock legend Gregg Allman, has struggled with addiction since childhood.

“I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that’s when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,” he told Entertainment Tonight in 2014. “Heroin kind of saved me. If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done.” He recalled “some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality.”

Last December, Cher filed for a conservatorship over Elijah, citing his inability to manage finances due to “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.” The petition was dropped in September 2024.

In recent months, Elijah has appeared disheveled in public, including a concerning sighting at the Chateau Marmont in May. Cher continues to rally around her son, hopeful this moment sparks a lasting change.
