Rev. Jesse Jackson is bouncing back after a recent health scare that had his loved ones and supporters deeply concerned.
His daughter, Satita Jackson, gave a reassuring update on Monday, saying her father is on the mend and showing real signs of improvement.
“He really wants us to continue with the work, and he’s ready to go home so that he can be out with the people,” she shared.
Jackson was hospitalized last week with what family members described as a serious infection. Despite the situation, Satita emphasized that he was never placed on any life support.
“He’s been improving every day,” she said, noting he’s communicating and even asking for his favorite soft drink.
He’s currently being treated for progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare brain disorder he was diagnosed with earlier this year. Jackson also lives with Parkinson’s, which he disclosed in 2017.
Loved ones and longtime friends have been flying into Chicago to be with him. Rev. Al Sharpton confirmed via social media that Jackson is alert and has never required life support.
I called in to Keepin’ It Real w/ Al Sharpton (live 1 to 4 PM ET) from Chicago as my daughter Dominique hosts the show in studio.
I shared an important update on Rev. Jesse Jackson. Reports that he was on life support are not true. He is stable, surrounded by his family, and… pic.twitter.com/N92ByunJ9P

While doctors continue to monitor his condition, Satita said she plans to stay by his side overnight. There’s still no word on when he’ll be released.
