A 69 year old man died on Wednesday, three days after he was punched outside a Starbucks in Rocklin, California, according to police and local news reports.
Robert was enjoying a latte outside the coffee shop on Oct. 17 when a vehicle pulled up playing loud music. A family member told KTXL that people nearby were complaining, so he pointed out the car and asked the driver to turn the music down.
Rocklin Police Detective Zack Lewis told CBS13 that during the exchange Robert was punched to the ground and suffered a head injury. He never regained consciousness and was taken off life support on Wednesday.
Police said a 20 year old man named River, who was already out on bail in connection with the incident, was rearrested Wednesday on one charge of voluntary manslaughter. His bail is set at $250,000 and he is expected in court on Nov. 3. A charge is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Robert’s family remembered him as an avid motorcycle rider who loved being a grandfather and great grandfather, and who enjoyed telling funny stories and hanging around with friends. Detective Lewis said, “Whatever the argument was, no one deserves to lose their life.”
