The Air Canada crash at LaGuardia Airport is now drawing even more attention after fresh footage revealed the exact moment the jet slammed into a fire truck on the runway. The aircraft had just landed Sunday night when it collided with the emergency vehicle, killing the pilot and co-pilot on impact.
The video shows the plane moving at speed down the runway while the fire truck enters from the opposite direction. Within seconds, the two paths intersect, and the aircraft’s nose jolts upward after the collision. A person recording can be heard reacting in real time, saying, “Oh, my goodness,” as the situation unfolds.
More than 70 passengers were onboard, and 41 people were transported to hospitals, according to Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia. However, officials said most have since been released. The fire truck had been responding to a separate United Airlines aircraft dealing with an odor issue when the crash occurred.
The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating, while New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani described the incident as a “tragic collision.”
Flights at LaGuardia were temporarily halted as officials worked the scene, adding to travel delays already affecting passengers across the region.
