Anthony Joshua Says “God Kept Me in the Presence of Great Men” While Honoring Friends Lost in Tragic Crash

Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua is officially back on Instagram for the first time since the devastating accident that changed his life.

On Sunday, the heavyweight champion shared a series of emotional photos as he begins to process the loss of two of his closest teammates. With a caption that simply reads “my brothers keeper.”

The images show Joshua standing in solidarity with the relatives of his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his personal trainer and lifelong friend, Latif Ayodele.

In one specific photo, a family member is seen holding a portrait of Ghami, a man who was an integral part of Joshua’s camp for years. While the boxing world mourns the loss of two professionals, Joshua is mourning the loss of family.

The tragedy took place on December 29, 2025, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria. Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV when a tire blowout caused the driver to lose control and strike a stationary truck. While Joshua was pulled from the wreckage with minor injuries, the impact was fatal for Ghami and Ayodele, who were sitting in the front of the vehicle.

Joshua had traveled to Nigeria to celebrate the New Year following his recent victory over Jake Paul. Instead of festivities, the champ has spent the last week visiting funeral homes and supporting the grieving families.

While the boxing world mourns, the legal system is moving forward. The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was officially charged on Friday in an Ogun state court. Kayode faces four counts, including dangerous driving causing death and driving without a valid license. He has been remanded in custody with a trial date set for January 20th.
