Antonio Brown Released From Jail, Now Under House Arrest in Attempted Murder Case

Antonio Brown

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is out of jail for now after a judge in Miami granted him a $25,000 bond and ordered him to wear a GPS ankle monitor while he awaits trial. He pleaded not guilty to a second‑degree attempted murder charge connected to a shooting that happened in May at a celebrity boxing event in Miami. He was apprehended in Dubai last week before being brought back to Florida.

The allegations are serious: according to authorities, Brown got into a fight inside the venue and later retrieved a firearm, opening fire toward a man he had clashed with earlier, grazing the victim’s neck. Brown’s side says the details in the affidavit are wrong, and his attorney argues the shots weren’t aimed at anyone and that Brown was defending himself.

When prosecutors urged that Brown remain in custody citing his wealth and flight risk, the judge disagreed on condition that he relinquish his passport, be confined to his home in Broward County, and steer clear of the alleged victim and scene of the incident.

Brown, who spent 12 seasons in the NFL and last suited up in 2021, now has the chance to plot his defense outside of jail. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years behind bars and a fine up to $10,000.
