Attorney Who Leaked The Video Of Ahmaud Arbery Shooting Says, ”I Was Trying To A Stop Riot”

The February 23 murder of Ahmaud Arbery at the hands of Travis and Greg McMichael is a reminder that Black people still face challenges in a society that refuse to see value in black lives.

A friend of Greg and Travis McMichael, attorney Alan Tucker, who leaked the video of the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, tells Inside Edition on Friday, that his decision to leak the video was his way of ”stopping a riot.”

”You saw what happened to Baltimore, you’ve seen what happened to Charleston, you saw what happened to Ferguson. I was trying to stop a riot,” Tucker told Inside Edition, pointing out other instances where other unarmed black men were murder for no other reason besides being black.

Tucker says he hopes the video would stop allegations that Ahmaud’s death was the result of “modern lynching.”

”It wasn’t two men with a Confederate flag in the back of a truck going down the road and shooting a jogger in the back,” Tucker said. “It got the truth out there as to what you could see.”

Tucker also tells Inside Edition that his “purpose was not to exonerate them or convict them,” but suggested Ahmaud could have prevented his death.

”The video speaks for itself,” Tucker said. “What happened, happened. I don’t have an excuse for it. I can’t explain. Other than, we always say, ‘What if he had just frozen and hadn’t done anything, he wouldn’t have gotten shot.’”

Travis McMichael, 34, as the suspect who murdered Ahmaud and his father, Gregory McMichael, 64, a retired investigator at the local district attorney’s office, are both charged with murder.

According to an incident report filed by Glynn County police, Ahmaud was shot after the McMichaels spotted him in their area, and claimed he fit the description of someone that was reportedly breaking into homes.

Greg McMichael said Ahmaud “violently” attacked his son, and the two wrestled over Travis’ shotgun before Travis shoot Ahmaud twice, the report said.

However, there are were no reports of break-ins made in the weeks leading up to the murder of Ahmaud; a police lieutenant told CNN.
