We’d like to congratulate Universal Music Publishing Group Head Of Urban Music and SVP/Creative Services, Ethiopia Habtemariam has been appointed to lead Motown Records.

For those not familiar with Ethiopia, she is a top executive for Universal Record’s publishing sector, Universal Music Publishing Group and responsible for finding, developing and signing artists such as Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Keri Hilson and Ciara. At the young age of 14 Ethiopa started as an intern for Laface Records. Soon after graduating high school she was given an assistant position.

Ethiopa’s responsible for finding talent as well as working as a liaison between writers, publishing groups and record companies to place songs on soundtracks and various other projects. Her hard work has quickly moved her up the ladder at the largest music company in the country.

With her background in music publishing and keen sense of finding fresh new talent, Ethiopia Habtemariam has recently been promoted to Universal’s parent company, Motown Records and serves President taking over Sylvia Rhone’s former job.

Major Congrats go out to Ms. Habtemariam giving hope to African American women in the music industry and showing that we too can hold high ranks!
