A couple of months ago, Baller Alert reported that Denver Broncos defensive end Jason Hunter had been stabbed by his girlfriend in Detroit. Now we know more about what happened.
According to a police report obtained by USA Today, Hunter told police his girlfriend waved a knife and told him to stay back before throwing it “on accident” on the morning of April 27. She then took him to get medical treatment and was arrested at the hospital after being pointed out by security.
The report says she was angry after finding a bag of cellphones. Hunter told officers the phones weren’t his and belonged to a friend.
Hunter’s agent said at the time that he needed several stitches. Detroit police had only said he was stabbed and taken to the hospital.
It happened just days after police in Florida said former Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall was stabbed by his wife, who said she acted in self defense.
Two players, two stabbings, in the same month. Thankfully, both men are recovering.
