Two lots of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine sold at Walmart stores nationwide are being recalled because the frozen pasta may be contaminated with Listeria.
Gias Foods, the company that makes the pasta for Walmart’s Bettergoods store brand, announced the recall in a notice posted by the FDA. The problem was caught during routine testing by agriculture officials in Washington state and Florida, which found the finished product may contain Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause a serious infection called listeriosis.
Here is how to tell if your Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine is part of the recall. The affected pasta comes frozen in a yellow 22-ounce plastic bag with UPC 194346442706. Check the back of the bag for one of these two combinations: lot number L6079C with an expiration date of September 19, 2027, or lot number L6080C with an expiration date of September 20, 2027.
If you have one, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to Walmart. Keeping it in the freezer does not make it safe. Consumer Reports food safety director James E. Rogers noted that Listeria thrives in the cold and is very hard to kill.
No illnesses have been reported. Gias Foods has stopped distributing the product while the company and the FDA work to figure out what caused the contamination.
For most healthy people, a Listeria infection brings symptoms like fever, muscle aches, vomiting, and diarrhea, usually within two weeks of eating contaminated food, and it often clears up on its own. It is far more dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system. In those cases, the infection can spread to the brain and spinal cord, and in pregnancy it can cause miscarriage or stillbirth even if the mother does not feel very sick. Anyone in a high-risk group who ate the recalled pasta and develops symptoms should contact a doctor.
This is not the first fettuccine Alfredo recall tied to Walmart shelves. In June 2025, ready-to-eat chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals sold under Walmart’s Marketside brand and Kroger’s Home Chef brand were recalled after a Listeria outbreak linked to 17 illnesses, three deaths, and one fetal loss. Those meals were made by a different company, FreshRealm.
