Cam Newton has ruffled feathers once again with his comments regarding women and motherhood.

During an appearance on the “It’s Giving” podcast with Sarah Fontenot, the former NFL quarterback said, “women’s value get lower the more children that they have.” The clip quickly circulated, especially because Newton is a father of nine himself.
Fontenot asked him directly if he feels like “Women’s value gets lowered when they have multiple children by multiple men,” and Newton agreed. However, he also spoke about accountability when dating someone with kids.
Newton explained that when you enter a relationship with a woman who has children, you have to accept the full package. He shared that he once told one of the mothers of his children that if the next man she dates is not willing to love all five of her kids, then he is not the one. He also acknowledged that some men want to date a woman without taking responsibility for her children, but added, “that ain’t how it work.”
Still, the “women’s value” comment dominated the conversation online.
Newton shares four children with ex-fiancée Kia Proctor, who also has a child from a previous relationship. He has two children with LaReina Shaw and two with comedian Jasmin Brown, his current girlfriend.
The former NFL star has not yet responded to the backlash, though it’s unlikely he will be backing down from his views.
