Cam’ron might have called Jay-Z’s next major move weeks before the news broke. The Harlem rapper previously laughed at the possibility of Hov selecting himself for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, and a new report suggests his prediction could become reality.

Jay-Z has reportedly chosen himself to headline Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027. The October 20 report claims the Roc Nation founder emerged as the preferred choice over other artists being considered, including Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. However, neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has officially confirmed the booking. The news makes Cam’ron’s September 25 appearance on “It Is What It Is” even funnier. During the episode, Cam and co-host Mase discussed earlier rumors that Jay-Z and Roc Nation were struggling to secure a halftime performer.
Cam wasn’t buying it.
“So [expletive] can’t find nobody way to do the Super Bowl? Word?” he questioned.
Cam suggested the supposed search for a headliner might actually be part of a much bigger plan.
“Out of all the artists in the world. The year that you got your master’s back from ‘Reasonable Doubt,’ the year you sell out Yankee Stadium three nights in a row, the year that you were in Paris and Europe and all these places doing tours right now, nobody could find time for that,” Cam joked. “I just might have to do it myself.”
He jokingly suggested that Jay-Z had been positioning himself for the performance for years rather than simply stepping in because other artists were unavailable.
Mase joined the laughter, questioning whether the supposed difficulty finding performers was believable. Cam also clarified that he wasn’t criticizing Jay-Z for potentially taking the opportunity. He simply found the circumstances surrounding the rumored decision hilarious.
His theory included the possibility of a massive guest lineup. Cam mentioned Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake as artists Jay-Z could potentially bring onto the Super Bowl stage.
The speculation carries extra weight because Jay-Z has helped oversee the event for years.
According to the NFL’s original partnership announcement, Roc Nation joined forces with the league in 2019 to advise on major entertainment performances, including the Super Bowl halftime show. That agreement placed Jay-Z in a powerful position when it came to helping shape the annual production.
Since then, Roc Nation has worked on performances featuring Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny. A Jay-Z halftime show would put the executive on the same stage he has helped other artists occupy.
Jay-Z previously acknowledged that selecting himself was a possibility.
During a January 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Brooklyn legend explained why he hadn’t taken the opportunity.
“I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early,” he said before adding, “Maybe one year.”
That possibility now appears closer than ever.
Jay-Z’s busy 2026 concert schedule includes three sold-out Yankee Stadium performances, a major Paris show, and appearances celebrating the anniversaries of “Reasonable Doubt” and “The Blueprint.”
The reported Super Bowl selection would continue that run while giving Jay-Z an opportunity to showcase decades of music before a massive television audience.
