Cardi B is officially waving the white flag when it comes to political back and forths.
During a recent X Spaces session on Thursday, the Grammy winner opened up about her recent social media war with Alex Bruesewitz, a media advisor to Donald Trump.
The tension started when Bruesewitz accused Cardi’s team of being behind a Politico report that alleged thousands of bots were inflating Nicki Minaj’s pro-Trump social media engagement. While Cardi was quick to defend her agent, Mike G, who is an investor in the data firm behind the report, the resulting fallout has left her feeling genuinely concerned.
“I don’t even play that shit. I don’t want no smoke with nobody from the fucking government, bitch,” she told her listeners. Cardi explained that the situation has triggered a level of paranoia she hasn’t felt before, specifically because of the power her opponents hold. “I don’t want no beef with no white folks that work in the motherfucking White House, because, God forbid, my motherfucking plane blow up [on] some weird shit. [Or] I get kidnapped [or] they play with my family,” she said. The rapper admitted that the thought of being watched by government figures has her “panicking.”
The Bronx native made it clear that while she is a global superstar, she feels vulnerable in this specific arena. “I might be a celebrity, but at the end of the day, I’m just a regular degular bitch from the fucking Bronx, and somebody that is the right hand man of the president is attacking me for four, five days straight,” she noted. Cardi described feeling like there’s a “satellite on top of my crib” and worrying that people might be lurking outside her hotel.
Despite the fear, she didn’t hold back on the facts during the actual feud. She called out the advisor for dragging her into a situation that had nothing to do with her, insisting that the data in the report is “VERY real” regardless of her involvement. “See what happen when you involve me in shit that don’t have nothing to do with me? I get down to the GRISTLE of it!!” she wrote during the exchange.
Now that the dust has settled, however, Cardi seems focused on protecting her peace and her family, choosing to step away from the political crossfire to avoid any further “weird shit.”
