Charlamagne Tha God says there was a time he had a silent target on his back and fans think Drake had something to do with it.
On a recent episode of Brilliant Idiots, Charlamagne told a story about an old encounter with two huge security guards working for G-Eazy.
“Two of the biggest security guards I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said. “If I’m lying, I’m flying.”
According to him, the men walked up and told him, “Hey, man, you know we had a green light on you for years? We were told, when we see you, just do it. Just do it. All bills will be paid.” Charlamagne admitted he had no idea what “just do it” meant but said the warning felt serious. “They was like, ‘We were told when we see you, for years, to let you have it. But no, we f**k with you,’” he added.
“They told me who it was from and everything,” Charlamagne continued. “‘He not like us, he not like us.’ That’s a fact. I ain’t making none of that s**t up. The only reason I won’t say his name is because I don’t want him to sue me.”
He didn’t name-drop, but a few comments made fans connect it to Drake.
Charlamagne referenced Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and hinted at legal threats, which lined up with Drake’s past defamation lawsuit against UMG.
“I’m not sitting there acting like a victim. No,” Charlamagne said. “If you got the means… I just thank God for always blessing me. That’s why I know every time I got jumped or punched in the face, I was supposed to.”
Though Charlamagne didn’t name names, the details have fans are connecting the dots and they’re convinced Drake was behind the threats.
