DDG Says Streamers Will Start Falling Off By 2027: Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed & Other Black Creators Could Be The Last Ones Standing

DDG believes the streaming industry is headed for a major reality check, and by 2027, many of the creators currently enjoying viral fame could find themselves struggling to keep up.

During a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, the rapper and popular streamer predicted that the industry would eventually narrow down to creators who have already established themselves as major players.

“Middle summer 2027, end of 2027, it’s just gonna be the [expletive] that’s already doing it at a high level, that’s really doing it right, because a lot of people fizzle out.”

DDG’s comments come as livestreaming continues to attract millions of viewers, particularly within Black entertainment. What was once dominated by gaming has evolved into an industry where creators interview celebrities, host marathon broadcasts, travel internationally, and turn everyday interactions into viral moments. However, with more personalities entering the space, DDG believes longevity will separate the real stars from those enjoying temporary attention.

While he did not identify every streamer he believes will remain successful, several Black creators have already positioned themselves as major forces in the industry.

Among them is Kai Cenat, who has arguably become one of the biggest names in modern livestreaming. With approximately 21.9 million Twitch followers, Cenat has transformed his broadcasts into major entertainment events featuring celebrities, musicians, and fellow creators. His September 2025 Mafiathon 3 livestream surpassed one million active paid subscriptions and generated approximately 84.2 million hours watched. The event also attracted a peak audience of roughly 962,000 concurrent viewers. Beyond Twitch, Cenat has built a YouTube following of approximately 8.25 million subscribers.

IShowSpeed is another creator who has taken livestreaming to an entirely different level. The internet personality has amassed approximately 61.6 million YouTube subscribers and more than 11 billion channel views. His energetic personality, international travels, soccer-related content, and unpredictable celebrity interactions have helped him develop a massive global audience. Unlike many streamers who depend heavily on one platform or content category, Speed has demonstrated an ability to attract viewers across countries and cultures.

DDG himself is also among the industry’s established personalities. With approximately 2.46 million Twitch followers, the rapper has successfully transitioned from YouTube videos and music into livestreaming. Between September 5 and October 5, tracking data recorded nearly 1.96 million hours watched on his Twitch channel, along with a peak of approximately 49,055 concurrent viewers. His presence in music and entertainment has helped him maintain relevance beyond streaming alone.

In fact, DDG previously named himself, Cenat, IShowSpeed, and PlaqueBoyMax as his personal Mount Rushmore of streamers during a May 2026 appearance on “Me & Halo.”

PlaqueBoyMax has developed a particularly interesting position in the industry by combining music production with livestreaming. His popular “In The Booth” broadcasts allow artists to create music while viewers watch the process unfold. With approximately 2.87 million Twitch followers and an all-time peak of more than 196,000 concurrent viewers, he has established a lane that connects internet entertainment directly to hip-hop culture.

The AMP collective has also produced several of Black streaming’s most recognizable personalities. Fanum, who has approximately 4.01 million Twitch followers, has gained widespread recognition through his humor, collaborations, and memorable interactions with other creators. His ability to remain entertaining in both individual broadcasts and group settings has helped establish him as a familiar face in streaming culture.

Fellow AMP personalities Agent00 and Duke Dennis have also built substantial audiences. Agent00 has approximately 3.53 million Twitch followers, while Duke Dennis has roughly 3.47 million. Both have developed dedicated fanbases through gaming, lifestyle content, and collaborative broadcasts. Their involvement with AMP has further expanded their visibility, giving them opportunities to participate in larger productions while maintaining their individual brands.

Meanwhile, 2xRaKai represents the younger generation rapidly climbing the ranks. The streamer surpassed three million Twitch followers in early October 2026, positioning himself among the platform’s biggest emerging personalities. His growing popularity also raises an interesting question about DDG’s prediction: whether newer creators can establish the same longevity as those who have been dominating the industry for years.

BenDaDonnn is another personality whose influence continues to grow. Known for his comedic style, celebrity friendships, and real-life interactions, he has built an audience of approximately 634,000 Twitch followers. Between October 2 and October 8, his streams averaged around 3,986 concurrent viewers and reached a peak of nearly 18,000. Although his following remains smaller than some of the industry’s biggest stars, his ability to create viral moments through celebrity collaborations has made him an increasingly recognizable figure.

Jordyn Lucas is also carving out her place in the competitive space. The rising Black female streamer has approximately 237,400 Twitch followers and has averaged roughly 2,280 concurrent viewers over a recent 30-day period. Her broadcasts have reached an all-time peak of approximately 9,176 viewers, with appearances and collaborations involving celebrities such as Kehlani and Kash Doll helping expand her visibility.

Lucas also generated attention after La La Anthony surprised her with a FaceTime call from Kim Kardashian, who expressed interest in joining her for a stream. Moments like these demonstrate how celebrity access and viral interactions can help emerging creators reach new audiences.

Several longtime internet personalities could also remain competitive as streaming continues to evolve.

YourRAGE, who has approximately 2.21 million Twitch followers, has demonstrated his ability to attract major audiences. His talent representation company, Starlet, reported that he reached a record 264,000 concurrent viewers and 100,000 subscriptions during 2026, reflecting the support behind his brand.

ImDontai and FlightReacts have likewise maintained loyal audiences through gaming, commentary, and reaction content. ImDontai has approximately 2.14 million Twitch followers, while FlightReacts has roughly 2.84 million. Both established themselves in online entertainment years before the recent livestreaming boom, providing them with experience navigating changing internet trends.

FunnyMike has developed a strong following across multiple platforms as well. With approximately 1.61 million Twitch followers and 9.42 million Instagram followers, he has built an entertainment brand extending into comedy, social media, and family-oriented content. His ability to attract viewers outside traditional livestreaming could play an important role in his long-term success.

Tylil and Silky are also notable names in the conversation. Tylil has approximately 1.55 million Twitch followers, while Silky has around 1.44 million. Both have built recognizable personalities and audiences in an industry where creators increasingly compete for the same viewers.

Still, the biggest following does not necessarily guarantee the longest career. Livestreaming success also depends on consistency, audience loyalty, paid subscriptions, sponsorship opportunities, and whether creators can keep their content interesting as trends change.

The rapid growth of personalities such as Rakai, BenDaDonnn, and Jordyn Lucas also suggests that the next wave of streaming stars may not have reached its full potential.

DDG’s prediction ultimately raises a bigger question about where Black streaming is headed. With millions of followers, major celebrity collaborations, and growing influence over internet culture, established creators like Cenat and Speed appear well-positioned to remain successful. However, rising personalities are continuing to prove that there is room for new talent.
