The Colorado Buffaloes began summer practices last week without their head coach, Deion Sanders, in attendance. On Sunday, it was reported that the NFL Hall of Famer is dealing with an undisclosed medical issue. He is currently in Texas recovering as he prepares for the upcoming season. His oldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., went live on YouTube to provide fans with an update.
He let everyone know that his father is feeling well and in great spirits.
“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he’s going through, what he went through,” Sanders Jr. said. “When we get back to Boulder? I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”
Sanders has faced medical challenges in the past, including blood clots in 2022 and 2023. He has already undergone a toe amputation and has remained grateful and faithful throughout his journey. If there’s one person who can find a blessing in the midst of a struggle, it’s Coach Prime.
The Buffaloes finished 9-4 last season and went 7-2 in Big 12 conference play.
With a high-powered roster and a five-star freshman quarterback, Julian Lewis, Coach Prime has plenty to look forward to upon his return to Boulder. The Buffs open their season at home on August 29th against Georgia Tech.
