DeSean Jackson made a trip to Washington, D.C. on Monday to meet with Redskins coaches and team officials, according to reports from NBC Sports Philadelphia and CSN Philly.
Jackson was recently released by the Philadelphia Eagles, and speculation about his next team had been building. Early reports on Twitter claimed a deal was done, but those reports were later walked back and nothing was official at the time of this post.
Jackson posted an Instagram photo from an aircraft captioned about creating a new path. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, a photo shared by D.C. rapper Wale later showed Jackson with Wale and Redskins players DeAngelo Hall and Pierre Garcon. CSN Philly reported that Jackson spoke briefly with reporters at Dulles Airport and said finding a new team was his agent’s job, adding that he was excited for a fresh start.
The Redskins were seen by oddsmakers as the favorites to land him. For now, the visit is a meeting and nothing more, and neither Jackson nor the team had announced a signing.
