Hilton Takes Swift Action After Minnesota Franchise Cancels DHS Agents’ Reservations Over Immigration Work

istock

You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here. That appears to be the message the Department of Homeland Security says it is receiving from Hilton Hotels, after the agency accused the hotel chain of abruptly canceling room reservations made by federal officers using official government email addresses.

In a post shared Monday on its official Twitter account, DHS alleged Hilton engaged in what it called a “coordinated campaign” in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to deny lodging to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other immigration-related personnel. The agency included screenshots of emails it said were sent by Hilton representatives, including one that told an officer, “We are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property.”

“NO ROOM AT THE INN!” the DHS post began. “@HiltonHotels has launched a coordinated campaign in Minneapolis to REFUSE service to DHS law enforcement. When officers attempted to book rooms using official government emails and rates, Hilton Hotels maliciously CANCELLED their reservations.”

The statement escalated from there, adding, “This is UNACCEPTABLE. Why is Hilton Hotels siding with murderers and rapists to deliberately undermine and impede DHS law enforcement from their mission to enforce our nation’s immigration laws?”

According to DHS, officers encountered the issue after making reservations tied to official travel in the Twin Cities area. The agency did not specify how many bookings were affected or which Hilton-branded properties were involved.

The dispute surfaced days after ICE increased enforcement activity in Minneapolis and St. Paul. That push followed heightened attention from a viral YouTube investigation by Nick Shirley into alleged daycare fraud, which was later amplified by Trump administration officials online and in public remarks.

Hilton has not publicly responded to DHS’s claims. A spokesperson for the company did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Mediaite seeking clarification on whether the cancellations reflected corporate policy, individual property decisions, or a misunderstanding related to booking terms.

As of Monday, DHS had not indicated whether it plans to pursue legal action or formal complaints related to the alleged cancellations, but the agency’s public language suggested the conflict is far from settled.
