Kim Kardashian and Law Roach have finally made it official, and for anyone who has watched the two shape celebrity fashion from opposite sides of the industry, the collaboration feels less surprising than long overdue.
Roach revealed Kardashian as his newest client after dressing her for the September 19 opening night gala for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles. He announced the partnership with two simple words on social media: “New client.”

For their first public fashion statement together, Roach skipped the predictable current runway pull and went straight into the archive. Kardashian wore a black and gold floral sequin Yves Saint Laurent gown from the house’s Fall 2004 collection, created during Tom Ford’s celebrated tenure. The fitted dress featured a dramatic keyhole opening, with Roach allowing the archival piece to carry most of the visual weight.
That choice alone explains why this pairing makes so much sense.
Kim Kardashian fashion has rarely been about simply wearing an expensive dress. Over the past two decades, her wardrobe has become part celebrity spectacle, part brand strategy and part fashion history lesson. Vogue has documented Kardashian’s evolution from early 2000s Los Angeles party style into vintage couture, major designer relationships and increasingly conceptual fashion moments. She later became closely associated with Balenciaga, with Vogue chronicling her highly visible run of monochromatic catsuits, covered faces and experimental silhouettes beginning in 2021.
Roach operates with a similarly deliberate understanding of image. His work with Zendaya has become one of the defining celebrity stylist partnerships of the modern era. The Chicago native first began working with Zendaya when she was 14, eventually moving to Los Angeles and helping build the kind of fashion storytelling that can turn a movie press tour into an event of its own.
The fashion industry eventually recognized that influence formally. According to the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Roach received the organization’s first Stylist Award in 2022. His client history has included Zendaya, Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, Kerry Washington, and other stars whose fashion identities became noticeably sharper under his direction.
That is exactly why Kim Kardashian fashion entering a Law Roach chapter feels overdue. Kardashian already understands the machinery of a viral image. Roach understands how to make that image reference something deeper than the algorithm. He does not simply dress a celebrity. His best work builds characters, narratives, and fashion callbacks around them.
And Kim is not Roach’s first trip into the Kardashian Jenner universe.
In August 2025, Vogue Arabia tapped Roach to style Kris Jenner for its September issue. The editorial placed Jenner in looks from Saint Laurent, Rabanne and other major fashion houses, giving the family matriarch a polished, old Hollywood inspired fashion treatment ahead of her 70th birthday.
Roach has suggested his connections with the family extend even further. During a previous conversation about the Kardashians, he told Entertainment Tonight, “I’ve had the opportunity to work with a few of them. And they are just nice people.”
He also made it clear that he respects the family’s understanding of the cultural machine around them. In the same interview, Roach said, “Let me tell you something about Kim Kardashian, all the Kardashians. I think they really understand pop culture and I think that’s what makes them successful because we are all waiting to buy something from them.”
That observation gets at why this collaboration has so much potential. Law Roach and Kim Kardashian are both students of attention. The difference is that neither treats attention as accidental.
Kardashian has spent years moving between designers, vintage pieces, viral silhouettes and fashion eras while remaining instantly recognizable. Roach has built his reputation around finding the reference, silhouette or archival pull that makes people stop scrolling and start discussing the clothes.
Their first outing also arrives while archival dressing continues to dominate celebrity style. Kardashian’s Yves Saint Laurent look is part of a recent wave of celebrities choosing important older runway pieces instead of automatically reaching for new collections. That space is especially familiar territory for Roach, whose work with Zendaya has repeatedly brought historic runway fashion back into contemporary pop culture.
So, no, Kim Kardashian working with Law Roach does not feel random. It feels like two people who have spent years understanding the power of fashion finally deciding to speak the same visual language.
If the vintage Yves Saint Laurent gown was only the opening statement, the real question now is what took them so long.
