Did DOJ Scrub Epstein Records? New Report Says Key Trump-Related Files Never Made It to Database

New reporting reveals that the Justice Department has not released dozens of Epstein records tied to allegations involving Donald Trump, even though federal law requires broad disclosure of those files.

According to an NPR investigation, more than 50 pages of FBI interview summaries and related notes appear in internal logs but remain absent from the public Epstein database. The records include interviews with a woman who accused Trump of sexual abuse decades ago when she was a minor.

NPR reviewed serial numbers stamped across FBI case files, discovery logs, and the latest batch of documents released in late January. Those serial numbers suggest at least 53 pages were catalogued but not uploaded for public access. The Justice Department declined to answer detailed questions about the specific records before publication. After the story ran, a department spokesperson said any documents not released are either privileged, duplicates, or tied to an ongoing federal investigation.

Following the report, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said he reviewed unredacted evidence logs at the department. Garcia stated that oversight members believe FBI interviews connected to the accuser were withheld. Democrats on the committee plan to examine the department’s decision separately from their existing review of the allegations.

The White House pushed back. Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said Trump has been “totally exonerated” in matters related to Epstein and pointed to the administration’s support for document releases and cooperation with congressional subpoenas.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche also told lawmakers in a February letter that no records were withheld due to embarrassment or political sensitivity.

The newly surfaced file discrepancies now add another layer to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Epstein document releases and how much the public is actually seeing.
