Dolly Parton Shuts Down Health Rumors: “I Wanted You To Know That I’m Not Dying” [Video]

Dolly Parton is setting the record straight about her health. After her sister, Freida Parton, asked fans to pray for her, the 78-year-old country superstar hopped online to share her own update, straight from the set of a new Grand Ole Opry commercial.

“Well, today’s October the 8th, and obviously I’m here doing some commercials for the Grand Ole Opry,” Dolly began. “Before I got started, I wanted to say I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you?”

The superstar assured fans that while she’s been dealing with medical issues, which have forced her to postpone several concerts, she’s nowhere near as sick as the rumors suggest.

“I’ve got some problems,” she said, explaining that after caring for her late husband Carl, she neglected her own health. “When I got around to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this, we need to take care of that.’ Nothing major.”

Still, Dolly wanted to make one thing crystal clear.

“I wanted you to know that I’m not dying,” she said with a smile. “I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working.”

And in true Dolly fashion, she ended with humor, laughing about a fake AI photo showing her and Reba McEntire at her “deathbed.”

“Oh lordy, they had Reba and me looking like we needed to be buried,” she joked.

Dolly’s message to fans? She’s grateful for the prayers—but she’s still here and still shining.
