Giannis Antetokounmpo is living life on two continents. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is staying in the United States for the NBA season while his wife and children have reportedly settled in Athens, Greece.
According to Greek outlet Tovima, Giannis made the decision to remain in the States as his wife, Mariah, and their four children relocated overseas. The couple, who tied the knot in 2024, are said to have discussed their options before deciding what was best for their growing family.
Mariah and the kids, Liam, 5, Maverick, 4, Eva, 3, and baby Aria, now live in an exclusive apartment complex in the Paleo Psychiko area, known as Athens’ “diplomatic row.” They are not alone, though. Giannis’ mother, Veronica, and his brothers, Francis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, are also living in the same complex, each in separate apartments.
Reports suggest Giannis asked Mariah if she wanted to continue life in Milwaukee or raise their children in Athens, where family support would be stronger. Their two oldest kids have already started attending a private school in the city, and the family reportedly plans frequent visits back and forth as Giannis’ basketball schedule allows.
Despite the distance, the couple is expected to stay closely connected through video calls and regular trips. Mariah and the children are already planning to spend the winter holidays with Giannis in Milwaukee.
This summer, Giannis was spotted in Athens during a European trip where he joined YouTuber iShowSpeed on a livestream. When asked about his future with the Bucks, he simply said, “Probably. We’ll see. I love Milwaukee.”
While fans might have hoped for a move to the New York Knicks, it seems Giannis is staying loyal to Milwaukee, even if that means keeping his family life across the ocean for now.
