Don Lemon is not staying quiet.
After Nicki Minaj publicly attacked him over his coverage of a Minnesota church protest involving an ICE field director pastor, Lemon took to Instagram with a lengthy and aggressive response that quickly went viral.
In the video, Lemon addressed Nicki directly, saying he normally avoids responding to online attacks but felt compelled to speak after what he described as a homophobic and unhinged tweet aimed at him. He accused Nicki of speaking on issues she does not understand and said the situation was “out of her depth.”

Lemon went further, leveling a series of personal allegations against the rapper. He claimed Nicki does not care about African Americans, questioned her citizenship status, and suggested she would be subject to deportation under Donald Trump’s immigration policies. He also referenced members of her family, citing reported criminal histories while stressing his remarks were based on public reporting.
None of Lemon’s claims have been substantiated in court, and he did not present evidence in the video. His statements were framed as opinion and commentary during an emotional response.
The rant escalated as Lemon called Nicki a “pick me” and urged both Black people and gay people to stop supporting her music. He ended the video by saying he chooses not to engage with her further and encouraged others to do the same.
As of now, Nicki Minaj has not issued a public response to Lemon’s Instagram video. The back-and-forth has intensified an already heated clash that began with protest coverage and has now moved squarely into personal and cultural warfare.
