A grand jury has indicted four former Vanderbilt University football players on charges related to an alleged assault on an unconscious woman in a campus dorm room, the Washington Post and UPI reported.
According to UPI, each of the four faces five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. One of them also faces charges of tampering with evidence and unlawful photography. Authorities allege the incident happened on June 23. The players were removed from the team on June 29 while police investigated.
As of Saturday, UPI reported that two of the former players were being held on $350,000 bail, one was released on a $50,000 bond, and police were still looking for the fourth.
An indictment is a formal accusation, not a finding of guilt, and the players are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Baller Alert will follow this story as it develops.
