D. Wade says he cleverly had Gabrielle Union’s proposal planned out. The NBA star tells The Associated Press that with the help of his nephew and son he was able to effortlessly pop the question.
Wade is raising his two sons, Zion and Zaire, and his nephew Dahveon and when he asked for Gabby’s hand in marriage, he wanted it to be clear that it was a package deal. “My kids were involved in it. We asked her to marry all of us, not just me. We’re a package deal, so it was cool,” he tells AP. Wade is referring to the wording of his proposal in which His youngest son Zion held a sign with Gabby’s name, His nephew’s sign said “Will you” and his oldest son Zaire’s sign read “marry us?”
Bewildered, Gabrielle Union turned to Wade and saw him on bended knee holding an 8½-carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring. It was then she realized what was happening and as we all know, she said YES!!!
Wade tells The AP why he chose that specific ring for Gabrielle. “I kind of know my lady,” Wade said. “I know she’s simple, but at the same time, I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds. I think it’s a simple ring, but it’s nice. It was nicely done … it’s timeless.”
We hear Dwyane Wade & Gabby are planning for a September 2014 wedding date.
