Fivio Foreign is not shy about standing by the people in his circle, even when the internet has plenty to say about it. In an exclusive Baller Alert interview, the rapper addressed his decision to continue collaborating with Tory Lanez and Trey Songz on his most recent project, despite both artists facing significant public scrutiny in recent years.

When asked directly why loyalty mattered more to him than public perception, Fivio credited a mindset he picked up from Kanye West, now known as Ye.“That’s one of the tactics I learned from Ye,” he said. “Ye is a person who do attach yourself to everybody that’s going through things, and maybe he got that role for a reason, got that life. I don’t know. I always attach myself sometimes to people that go through things, but I don’t look at it like I’m a person that judges people off of what other people might say about them.”
Fivio went on to explain that he sees things differently than the general public often does, and that following popular opinion is not always the same as doing what feels right to him personally.
“I think in life you gotta learn that the popular opinion is not always the right opinion,” he said. “A lot of people just go with what’s popular. I’m just gonna follow, because it makes sense if everybody’s doing it, right. But I look at people, and I’m not God. I can’t judge nobody.”
He continued that sentiment by pointing to the idea that everyone carries their own past mistakes, something he says keeps him from writing people off based on public perception alone. “We all got skeletons, we all got things we wish we never did,” he said. “We all got things that we work on, that we want God to take over. So I ain’t really judging nobody like that.”
Both Tory Lanez and Trey Songz have faced serious public controversy in recent years, from Lanez’s legal case involving Megan Thee Stallion to multiple allegations against Songz, making Fivio’s decision to keep working with them a talking point among fans. Still, his comments make clear that his loyalty is rooted in a personal philosophy about judgment and grace rather than an attempt to ignore or dismiss those controversies altogether.
