New Music Friday is giving listeners three very different reasons to clear their playlists.
Yung Miami is officially entering her solo album era, and the title says plenty before the first song even plays. Her debut album, “Watch Dis,” arrived October 23 with 21 tracks and a guest list that includes Travis Scott, Summer Walker, Quavo, G Herbo, Rick Ross, Trina, Trick Daddy, Bryson Tiller, Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Davido, Shenseea, and Vybz Kartel.
After the City Girls went their separate ways, Miami faced questions about whether she could establish herself without JT. Instead of rushing an answer, she spent time building her solo sound, growing her “Caresha Please” brand, and eventually finding major momentum with “Spend Dat.”
Now, that record sits alongside “2008” and “F You” on an album that moves between Miami’s unapologetic personality and more personal territory.
“Dade County,” featuring Rick Ross, Trina, and Trick Daddy, brings hometown royalty together. Meanwhile, “Ride For You” with Summer Walker and “Just Might Go” with Travis Scott expand the project’s sound. One of the most personal moments arrives on “Dear JT,” where Miami addresses her former City Girls partner and expresses that she misses her.
As Miami introduces herself as a solo artist, John Legend and Pharrell Williams prove that even longtime stars can find new creative territory. Legend’s 16-track album, “Muse,” arrives as the first full-length collaboration between the two musicians after more than 20 years of friendship.
Pharrell produced and co-wrote the project, which draws inspiration from gospel, classic soul, doo-wop, funk, Afrobeat, and hip-hop. Much of the recording took place at Pharrell’s studio inside Louis Vuitton’s Paris headquarters. The sessions also pushed Legend beyond the vocal approach that made songs like “Ordinary People” and “All of Me” staples. The lead single “Daylight” introduced the album’s direction, while “Fireflies” explores a more conversational vocal style. Elsewhere, “Bodies on the Floor” reunites Legend with Clipse, connecting the project to Pharrell’s longstanding hip-hop roots.
Toosii blessed fans with the pleasant surprise of “Platinum Heart 2.” After stepping away from music to focus on football, many Toosii fans believed that music was on the back burner. However, after departing LSU’s football team in June 2026, the singer got back in the booth, creating his smooth merging of rap-style R&B, which his supporters have grown to love. Across 13 tracks, Toosii demonstrates his growth while reflecting on love and his career.
This weekend, Yung Miami is demanding to be heard, John Legend and Pharrell are exploring new sounds, and Toosii is making his priorities clear. Three different directions, one packed New Music Friday.
