Flavor Flav isn’t letting a relapse define his journey. The rap veteran is making it clear that he’s fully recommitted to sobriety and plans to keep it that way.

Speaking at the 2025 Black Music Action Coalition Gala just days ago in Beverly Hills, the 66-year-old told PEOPLE, “Right now it’s going very well. I’m back on point. I’m back on track. You know what I’m saying? And this is the way that I plan on staying for the rest of my life.”

Back in April, Flav admitted to a brief relapse via Instagram, telling fans he wanted to “hold myself publicly accountable.” He wrote, “I briefly relapsed. I say this to admit my mistake and publicly hold myself accountable. I am a human being who makes mistakes and it doesn’t make me a bad person.” He also noted, “I went back to Day 1, again. Time didn’t stop, my journey continues.”

Now that he’s back on the right path, Flav has a message for others struggling with addiction.

“If you take a fall, don’t lay there and stay stuck. You got to get up off of that fall and you have to K-I-M — keep it moving. Operation no choice is now in progress.”

Flavor Flav began his sobriety journey in 2020. In 2023, he revealed spending over $2,400 a day on drugs during his addiction. Today, he’s using his second chance to advocate for recovery, mental health, and making better choices, one day at a time.
