Florida Man Accused Of Double Murder Screams “God” Repeatedly As He Enters Courtroom Before Being Denied Bail

Damon Kemp, 19, was wheeled into a Daytona Beach courtroom screaming “God!” during his appearance in court this week. He is accused of fatally shooting his roommates, Treay Ingraham and Jordan Paden, at their apartment complex in Florida on December 9th.

The awkward and emotional court appearance was recorded and went viral soon after it was released to the public. During the hearing, Kemp rolled his eyes and darted his head around, making odd facial expressions, which many on social media believed to be an attempt to plead insanity.

As Kemp continued to act erratically, the judge gave his decision on bail. “I’ve reviewed your arrest and determined there’s probable cause for your arrest,” the judge said over Kemp’s shouting. “I’ve appointed the public defender to represent you, so you have a lawyer, this morning.”

Mother of Treay Ingraham, Nerissa Carter-Young, said, “The young man — his mother — he’s only 19. He murdered our son, that’s what they say, but oh my gosh, he’s still a baby too.” She continued, “You won’t get a chance to hear their voice anymore, you won’t get a chance to smell them anymore.”

According to Daytona Beach Police, the teen’s bodies were found as detectives were investigating a separate incident at the Jade Apartments. Investigators say neighbors heard gunshots the day prior but never reported it to authorities.

Detectives believe Ingraham was a young man simply trying to help out a friend and his good deed turned deadly. As Kemp, also known as “Day-Day,” was wheeled out of the courtroom, one of Ingraham’s relatives yelled out, “Day-Day, why would you do that to Treay? Day-Day, I fed you, Treay fed you! He let you live in his house rent-free, why would you do that to Treay, Day-Day?! Day-Day’s wrong for that! He’s wrong for that!”

Kemp will remain behind bars until his next court date.
