Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is responding to a scene in the new Sacha Baron Cohen film, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, that was the talk of the internet this week.
Giuliani has spent recent weeks promoting claims about Hunter Biden. In the film, he sits for an interview with an actress named Maria Bakalova, who is 24 and plays a character named Tutar, presented as Borat’s daughter. The scene was filmed with hidden cameras in a New York hotel suite. According to reviews and clips of the film, the interview moves to a bedroom, where Giuliani sits on the bed, the actress removes his microphone, and he lies back and reaches into his pants. Cohen, in character as Borat, then bursts in and the scene ends.
Giuliani denied any wrongdoing. In a radio interview on Wednesday, he said he was only tucking in his shirt after the microphone was removed. He called the clip “doctored” and described it as a “hit job” tied to his work on Hunter Biden. He also said the film is a “totally sensationalized false account.”
Earlier this year, Giuliani told Page Six that he met Cohen in disguise at the Mark Hotel in Manhattan for what he believed was a serious interview. He said he called police because he suspected a scam, and that Cohen was gone by the time officers arrived.
The scene is part of a satirical film built on hidden camera pranks. Giuliani’s version of events and the clip do not match, and viewers can watch the film and judge for themselves.
