It’s been four years since January 6, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, aiming to overturn the 2020 election results.

A total of nine people died in connection with the January 6 Capitol attack.

Five deaths occurred during or shortly after the riot, including Ashli Babbitt, Rosanne Boyland, Kevin Greeson, Benjamin Philips, and Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.

In the months following the attack, four police officers who responded to the scene—Jeffrey Smith, Howard Liebengood, Kyle DeFreytag, and Gunther Hashida—died by suicide.

In the aftermath, over 1,500 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the attack, and more than 1,000 have been convicted.

Notable arrests include Enrique Tarrio, leader of the Proud Boys, sentenced to 22 years for seditious conspiracy.

Now, Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election, and concerns are high. Many are worried about the future of democracy and fear a repeat of past unrest.

President Joe Biden has urged Americans not to forget the January 6 attack, emphasizing the importance of remembering to prevent a recurrence.

As Trump gets ready for his second term, people are tense, hoping things stay calm, but aware of the divisions that still exist.
