Future was recently spotted wearing “the most exclusive sandal ever made.” The rapper sported $48,000 sandals from MSCHF’s Birkinstock. According to MSCHF, they use genuine Birkin bags of leather to make the sandals.
The Birkinstock project is not an official collaboration with Birkinstock. The company created the concept to inspire consumers to question the symbolism associated with Birkin bags. “Birkin bags are like a cultural meme, a symbol for a certain kind of wealth,” MSCHF’s creative director—Lukas Bentel, said.
The luxury sandals range from $34,000 to $76,000, depending on a buyer’s shoe size. The company has a submission form for consumers interested in purchasing the sandals. A team member will reach out to the approved applicants and send them an invoice.
