Future is back in court, this time accusing ex Brittni Mealy of violating orders in their ongoing custody and support dispute over their son, Prince.
The latest twist comes after Mealy filed a petition in Fulton County Superior Court last month, accusing Future of violating a 2023 court order tied to financial protections for their 13-year-old child. She claims the artist failed to secure a $500,000 life insurance policy naming Prince as the beneficiary by the required deadline. Mealy reportedly asked the court to hold him in contempt and jail him until he complies.
Her filing stated, “More than eighteen (18) months have passed since the compliance deadline. Despite several written requests over the course of several months, [Future] has failed and refused to comply.”
Future is pushing back hard against those claims. According to TMZ, he has now filed his own petition requesting that the court find Mealy in both civil and criminal contempt. He alleges she violated existing court orders and is also seeking to have her pay his legal fees. Future further claims Mealy leaked details of their private case to the media.
Mealy has denied those allegations.
This is not the only courtroom matter Future is handling right now. Earlier this month, another ex, Layla Sanad, filed a separate case seeking to establish paternity involving a child she says was born in 2017. She is asking for child support and two years of retroactive payments.
Future reportedly responded by asking for the Florida case to be dismissed in favor of “a more convenient forum.” He argued that Sanad and the child live in Arizona and said he had already opened a case there. He also claimed he had been “voluntarily” paying Sanad $3,500 each month.
Both legal matters remain active as the rapper faces increasing scrutiny beyond music.
