Claressa Shields Says She’s Probably Pregnant After Papoose Went Crazy Post-Fight

Claressa Shields’ pregnancy speculation is coming from Shields herself this time, and she posted it less than 24 hours after stopping Kaye Scott in Atlanta. Shields quote-tweeted a “Nightcap” clip about her and Papoose staying locked in through training camp and wrote that she is probably pregnant now because Papoose went crazy after the fight. She added a crying laughing emoji, a heart hands emoji, and a cartwheel. Subtlety has never been her thing.

The clip she was responding to came from her appearance on “Nightcap” with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco, where she told them she and Papoose had gone six weeks without sex heading into the fight. The show framed it around discipline, with Shields talking about how her man stayed just as dedicated as she did through camp. So when she posted about being probably pregnant the day after, the internet did the math out loud in her comments.

Context matters here because this is a woman who has spent a year and a half shutting down pregnancy rumors she did not start. Back in March 2025, a video of her stepping out of a car with Papoose driving went viral, and people decided she had a bump. She got on Instagram and said she was not pregnant; she had just eaten. Later that year, in November, people clocked that she was toasting with water in New York and cranberry juice in Los Angeles and started the whole thing again. She pointed out that she does not drink and had not touched liquor since her birthday in March. Every time the Shields pregnancy conversation has come up before, she has been the one waving it off.

On August 7, just eight days before the fight, Shields sat down with Cam Newton on the “Funky Friday” podcast and said she was surprised she had not been pregnant yet. She talked about how much time she and Papoose spend together when she is not in camp. Newton, clearly not expecting that answer, asked how they were planning to have the child. Shields shot back, asking who the [expletive] else was going to have the kid. When he brought up surrogacy, she shut it down and said she is not having a surrogate; she can get pregnant like anybody else. Then she told him flat out that they are having a baby next year.

That was not a one-off either. She said the same thing on “The Pivot” last summer, telling the crew she does not want to wait until she is 40 or 43 to have kids because she wants to be able to run at the park with them. She said she plans to have a baby, come back and fight, then have another one and do it again. In August 2025, she tweeted that she cannot wait to get pregnant and that the magic number for her is four kids. This past March, four days before Papoose turned 48, she posted a photo of the two of them in floor-length furs and said she wished she could surprise him with a baby for his birthday.

So the Claressa Shields pregnant post is a punchline sitting on top of a plan she has been describing publicly since 2025.

The fight itself was the part nobody can argue with. Shields moved down three weight classes from heavyweight to middleweight, something she had not done since 2023, and beat WBA and WBC champion Kaye Scott by TKO at 1:38 of the sixth round at State Farm Arena on August 15. Scott, who is 42, got dropped in the sixth, and Shields unloaded on her against the ropes until Scott’s corner threw in the towel. Shields moved to 19 wins, zero losses, four knockouts, and became a middleweight world champion for the third time while still holding the undisputed heavyweight crown.

The weight cut was the wild part. Shields said afterward that she started training camp 14 weeks out at 198 pounds and had to get down to the 160-pound middleweight limit. That is 38 pounds gone. She still had her hands.

The relationship backdrop has never been quiet. Papoose is still legally married to Remy Ma, who exposed the relationship in December 2024 and has taken shots at Shields more than once since. Shields has never played coy about any of it, and Papoose has been just as loud, showing up at her fights and posting about her constantly. He also, according to Shields, helped bring her a four-fight deal with Wynn Records worth a minimum of $8 million with a $3 million signing bonus. She called it a true partnership.

Shields has not confirmed anything medically and has not said she has taken a test. What she said is that she is probably pregnant now and that her man went crazy after the fight, which is a woman celebrating a title win, not an announcement. But she has also promised repeatedly that when it is real, she will tell the world herself, the same way she went public with the relationship. She once said the baby would be everybody’s internet child.

Next up in the ring, her promoter is pushing for Britain’s Lauren Price and wants Price to come to the United States for it.
