Gabrielle Cheyenne is telling her own story after a few seconds from Usher and Chris Brown’s Nashville concert turned her into the center of a viral debate. While social media users tried to determine why she appeared less than enthusiastic during Usher’s sensual performance, Cheyenne says many of those reactions ignored one major detail. She did not know she was being selected specifically for Usher.

Speaking with TMZ on Monday, July 27, Cheyenne said the opportunity started before the moment viewers eventually saw online.
“I was approached first, and upgraded to VIP, and they don’t give you any instructions on who, what, when, where, or how,” Cheyenne said.
She clarified that the possibility of going onstage was mentioned, but even then, nothing was immediately guaranteed.
“They told me that I, it was a possibility of me going on stage, but they They didn’t confirm that until it was closer to time for me to go on stage,” she explained.
For the concertgoer, accepting that opportunity was not complicated. She was attending a major concert featuring two R&B stars and had suddenly been given a chance most fans would never receive.
“And of course, you’re getting to go up on stage. Why would I decline that?” she said.
That question became especially relevant once people online started speculating about why Cheyenne looked reserved during the encounter. Some attempted to explain her reaction by suggesting she could have been in a relationship or had some other personal reason for holding back.
Cheyenne said those theories had nothing to do with why she agreed to go onstage.
“People are pulling the narrative that I’m in a relationship or, or whatever the case may be,” she said. “No one can tell me the reasoning as to why I said yes to getting on stage.”
Her point was simple. People watching the clip knew what happened once she was already in front of the crowd. They did not know what information she had been given beforehand.
“But you also don’t know who you’re going on stage for or, or, or with,” Cheyenne explained.
That is where the biggest piece of Gabrielle Cheyenne’s story comes in.
The July 25 show at Nissan Stadium in Nashville was part of Usher and Chris Brown’s joint R&B Tour, with both artists on the lineup. So when Cheyenne was told she could potentially go onstage, she says she did not know whether that opportunity involved Usher or Brown.
When TMZ asked whether she had hoped the performer would be Chris Brown, Cheyenne answered directly.
“Me solely, I went to…the concert for Chris Brown,” she said. “It’s nothing against Usher or anything like that, but I’m more of a Chris Brown fan than I am of Usher.”
She then acknowledged what many viewers were trying to figure out after seeing her reaction.
“So, of course, it, it would have been a different reaction with Chris Brown,” she said.
That context changes how Gabrielle Cheyenne says the viral moment should be understood. She was not claiming Usher had done something to offend her, nor was she saying she disliked him. She was explaining that the artist she personally went to see was Brown, and she did not know who she would encounter when she accepted the opportunity.
The actual performance quickly became a separate story.
Video from the concert showed Cheyenne leaning back as Usher moved closer. The singer noticed her response, commented that she did not appear to want to be onstage, and ended the interaction.
The clip spread, and viewers began debating whether Cheyenne should have accepted the opportunity if she was not going to fully participate.
But Gabrielle Cheyenne says that criticism assumes she knew far more than she actually did.
Her explanation is that the sequence unfolded in stages. She was approached and upgraded to VIP. She was told that going onstage might be possible. The appearance was not confirmed until closer to the performance. Most importantly, she says no one initially told her which of the two artists she might be joining.
That distinction became lost once the internet reduced the night to her facial expressions and body language.
Cheyenne also did not stay quiet once the backlash started. During the TMZ conversation, she was asked about a social media post where she responded to critics with, “pretty privileges, something you h*es will never know about.”
Rather than pretending the statement was aimed at everyone discussing the video, Cheyenne clarified exactly who she had in mind.
“That post specifically was directed towards my city,” she said.
Cheyenne explained that she was referring to criticism she had received from people in her Chattanooga hometown. In social media posts shortly after the concert, she slammed critics from her city who spoke negatively about the moment.
“First off NOBODY is declining to go on stage. I looked good asf, you thought I wasn’t gonna let THOUSANDS of people see me ?? On the big screen , where you b***ches will never be ???? My mom and I had FLOOR SEATS. Their team approached us and moved us to VIP before the show even started !! PRETTY PRIVILEGES something you h*es will never know about !! They don’t say who you’re going up there for !! Y’all wanted me to get up there and f**k him atp ?? CHATT FOLKS AREN’T USED TO ANYTHING. That’s the most exciting thing that would’ve happened in y’all little a** lives !! F**k yall , DISRESPECTFULLY,” one post read.
Cheyenne had also publicly responded before the interview. People reported that she said she and her mother were moved from their floor seats into the VIP section before the concert began. Her mother later shared a photograph of Cheyenne with Usher’s wife, Jenn Goicoechea, in the VIP area, according to the outlet.
The concert itself was one stop on a stadium run featuring both singers. Live Nation’s tour announcement listed Nashville among the scheduled cities for the joint Usher and Chris Brown tour, with the Nissan Stadium performance set for July 25.
But for Gabrielle Cheyenne, the story is less about the tour and more about everything that happened before one moment went viral.
She says she did not knowingly volunteer for a specific intimate performance with Usher. She accepted the possibility of going onstage at a concert featuring Usher and Chris Brown. She says she attended primarily for Brown, and when asked directly, she admitted her reaction would have been different had Brown been the person waiting for her onstage.
That does not make the interaction a rejection of Usher. Cheyenne said herself that she had nothing against him.
It does explain why the woman social media saw in a short viral clip may not have been reacting to the moment viewers thought she had signed up for.
