A Court Reversed the Convictions In Elijah McClain’s Death, And His Mother Calls It Corrupt And Cowardly

A Colorado grand jury has indicted two Aurora, Colorado police officers, one former officer and two Aurora Fire Rescue paramedics involved in the death of Elijah McClain.

McClain was a young Black man detained by cops while walking home from the store and placed in a chokehold during a confrontation back in 2019.

Those individuals charged face a count of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide as part of a 32 count indictment.

This indictment comes as a result of an eight-month grand jury convened by Colorado’s top prosecutor nearly two years after McClain’s death.

Colorado’s Attorney General Phil Weiser also detailed that the two current officers will also face assault charges and crimes of violence related to the assault on McClain. In contrast, the two paramedics will each face various assault charges, including a charge for using ketamine as a deadly weapon.
