A woman who describes herself as an NFL and NBA groupie used Twitter to post screenshots of text messages she claimed came from several athletes. One set of screenshots was attributed to someone she said was Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant. The messages were not verified, and the only detail shown was a Dallas area code.
We could not confirm that the texts came from Dez, and we reported them only as her allegation. Because the claims were never verified, we are leaving out the content of the messages.
Dez responded on Twitter shortly after the screenshots circulated. He said he did not know the woman, and he said he was taking the matter seriously, including looping in the NFLPA. His response was posted after midnight Dallas time, hours after the original tweets.
Dez is also under a conduct focused agreement with his Jordan Brand deal, so he has every reason to shut down rumors quickly. For now, the allegations remain unproven and Dez has denied them.
