A fifth adult film performer has reportedly come forward as the industry deals with a string of HIV cases, according to MikeSouth.com and Radar Online. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, known as AHF, held a conference call with performers who say they tested positive, along with several AHF staff members.
Who was on the call
MikeSouth.com reported that the performers on the call included Cameron Bay and Rod Daily, who have both spoken publicly about their diagnoses. Baller Alert previously interviewed Bay about her diagnosis. A performer named Patrick was also reported to be among the participants. Radar Online reported that he said his test may be a false positive and that the result was not yet confirmed. A fourth performer was not named.
What was claimed
According to MikeSouth.com, Patrick said the Free Speech Coalition, the adult industry trade group, knew about his test result and that he was still scheduled to shoot despite the industry’s filming pause. Those claims have not been independently verified. The Free Speech Coalition has said no performer has been shown to have contracted HIV on a set, and it has increased how often performers must be tested.
MikeSouth.com also reported that Bay described a shoot where she said safety rules were not followed. She did not say she was infected there, and her account has not been independently confirmed.
Why it matters
Several performers on the call said testing every 14 days is not enough and want condoms required on sets. The industry has paused filming twice this year, most recently on September 5. We will keep you updated as more is confirmed.
