Ice Cube recently clarified why Chicago Sky star Angel Reese did not receive a $5 million offer to join the Big3 like Caitlin Clark did earlier this year.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Cube explained that the offer made to Clark was only possible because of strong corporate backing.
“I don’t think we can make that same offer because it won’t have the same impact to the league,” he said. According to Cube, sponsors believed Clark’s involvement would be transformative, and that level of enthusiasm didn’t extend to Reese.
Clark ultimately declined the Big3 deal to focus on her WNBA career and endorsement opportunities. Although her rookie salary is just $76,535, Sportico reports she has already earned close to $11 million in endorsements.
Reese, however, is blazing her own trail. She recently graced the cover of NBA 2K26’s WNBA Edition and became the face of Reebok’s first female signature shoe in over a decade. She also participated in the first season of Unrivaled, a new 3-on-3 league launched by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. Reese helped lead her team, Rose BC, to the championship and earned a $50,000 bonus in the process.
On the court, Reese continues to dominate. In her second WNBA season, she’s averaging 13.8 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, shooting 44.8 percent from the field. Her game and brand continue to rise, even without a Big3 deal.
