Ice-T’s grandson Elyjah has been indicted by a Cobb County, Georgia grand jury in connection with the shooting death of his roommate, according to reports.
Elyjah, who was 19 at the time, was arrested last June after police said his 19 year old roommate was fatally shot at their Marietta apartment. Authorities said the gun went off while it was being handled. He was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter and several other counts.
According to reports on the indictment, the grand jury returned charges including involuntary manslaughter, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and reckless conduct. A marijuana charge was also reported to be pending. Elyjah was reported to be free on bond.
An indictment is a formal accusation and is not a finding of guilt. No details about a court date had been released, and a response from Elyjah or his family was not reported at the time.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who lost his life.
