The Jay-Z Yankee Stadium shows have taken the music world by storm, and now, a third show has been announced. After overwhelming demand for the first two dates, Jay-Z confirmed an additional performance at Yankee Stadium set for Sunday, July 12. Roc Nation shared the news on Tuesday, calling the extra date “Extra Innings” as fans continue scrambling for tickets. Sales for the new show begin on March 24 at 1:00 PM.
The rollout follows intense demand for the July 10 and 11concerts, which mark 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint. Fans flooded ticketing platforms as soon as sales opened, with reported queues climbing as high as 800,000 people. So the third show lands as a direct response to that pressure, giving more fans a shot at seeing Jay-Z celebrate two defining albums live.
While the concerts highlight his legacy, Jay-Z is also thinking about his next creative move. In a recent GQ interview with Frazier Tharpe, he spoke candidly about making new music and where his mindset is right now.
“I don’t know yet. I don’t know. But I know that we have enough negativity currently,” he said. “Forget the landscape of music. I don’t know what I need to create currently that’s going to fulfill me and make me happy, because that’s most important. I know I just got to be honest about what I feel and where I am. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Maybe I’m stopping myself from just creating. Whatever it is, it just needs to be a true representation of how I feel. Trying to create something that people like is where I think a lot of artists get jammed up. And people can feel that because it’s not authentic. I just got to make something timeless that I really love, and that’s really honest and true to who I am.”
So while fans gear up for three nights in the Bronx, Jay-Z is still focused on making sure whatever comes next feels real.
