More than three years after Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston, the case is moving into a critical phase as the accused killer prepares for trial with high-powered attorneys, one of whom is linked to J Prince.
Patrick “DJ Pat” Clark was arrested weeks after the 2022 shooting outside a bowling alley. Prosecutors allege he “unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly commit the felony offense of deadly conduct by knowingly discharging a firearm at and in the direction of” the late rapper. The case has remained active while both sides continue building their arguments.
Investigators previously pointed to multiple pieces of evidence tied to Clark.
“The defendant was captured on video shooting in the direction of the complainant with a gun in one hand, wine bottle in another hand. Video also shows the defendant leave the bottle at the scene,” a detective stated. Authorities also said, “Prints from wine bottle, phone records, and a vehicle helped in ID’ing the defendant as the shooter in this murder case.”
Clark has pleaded not guilty and remains out on a $1 million bond. However, he is now strengthening his defense with attorneys Kent Schaffer, Anthony Osso, and Dan Cogdell as the trial approaches in November. Schaffer has previously represented Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince in unrelated cases, adding another notable name to the legal mix.
At the same time, Takeoff’s presence continues in upcoming releases. He is set to appear alongside Quavo in the film “Takeover,” scheduled to hit theaters on May 8, 2026. The project highlights street racing culture and gives fans another chance to see him on screen.
