Joe McCann, the fiancé of popular content creator Ashly “Ashlee” Jenae Robinson, has officially broken his silence nearly a month after her sudden death.
Ashly Robinson passed away on April 9 during a celebratory trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania. The news shocked her followers, coming just days after the couple announced their engagement. While the investigation into her death has drawn international attention and led Tanzanian authorities to temporarily hold McCann’s travel documents, he has not been charged with any crime.
On Tuesday, McCann shared an emotional and extensive message on X, reflecting on the profound grief he has experienced. He described the situation as an “incomprehensible tragedy,” emphasizing the deep personal loss of the woman he intended to marry.
“There are no adequate words to describe the total devastation, emptiness, and shock I feel after losing my best friend, confidante and fiancé, Ashly Jenae Robinson,” McCann wrote. He also extended his condolences to her parents, Yolanda Endres and Harry Robinson, adding that as a father himself, he is “heartbroken” for their loss.
In his tribute, McCann shifted the focus from Robinson’s online presence to her private character. He described her as a “nurturing presence” who “embodied the virtues of compassion, empathy, kindness, generosity, and love.” He recalled their daily life together, highlighting her bond with his children and her talent in the kitchen, saying she “fattened me up with her amazing cooking.” He also spoke on her pride in her “Trinidadian roots” and her “encyclopedic knowledge of music.”
Perhaps the most poignant part of his statement centered on the future they had planned. According to McCann, Robinson’s greatest wish was to start a family.
“What Ashly desired most was to become a mother and to raise a family together,” he shared, adding that “she would have been an amazing mom.”
He concluded by vowing to honor her legacy and live by her values.
“Ashly was an angel who shined her light on everyone fortunate enough to be in her presence,” he wrote. “Ashly, I love you forever.”
