Pretty Ricky star Baby Blue has provided more context after a post sending prayers to Diddy’s children swept the internet over the weekend.
Speaking exclusively to Baller Alert, the “On The Hotline” rapper shared that his post wasn’t coming from a place of dismissing Diddy’s actions. Instead, as a Black man who was previously incarcerated for unrelated fraud charges, Baby Blue explained that he has witnessed the harsh conditions that incarceration can breed.“I was able to witness the harsh conditions of prison and how they turn a man into a slave. The majority of prisons are primarily populated by African-Americans. So, I do have a biased opinion in that regard. I don’t want to see any black man incarcerated like a slave,” he shared.
In the Instagram post that sparked waves of reactions, Baby Blue shared a video of Justin Combs singing Pretty Ricky’s “Can’t Live Without You.” In the caption, he shared prayers for Diddy’s children, who have been vocal about missing their father, as he remains incarcerated after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the federal Mann Act.
“This Sunday I wanna send a prayer up for @princejdc @kingcombs and the rest of Puff’s kids, family and friends. They’ve had to endure the trauma of separation from their father and learn how to cope without his physical presence. I pray they’ll be reunited with him sooner than later. We all make mistakes. Forgiveness is apart of human nature. #FreeDiddy! We love you all and appreciate what you’ve done for the culture. I literally remember being in bed rapping “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down! When I was 10/11 years old! Prince DC, stay strong lil bro! Tell the family Blue & Pretty Ricky rocking with yall. 🙏🏽 This too shall pass! It’ll be over soon. Just put God at the center of your life and everything will be okay,” the lengthy caption read.
As the comments continued to mount, with many differing opinions, Baby Blue followed up in the comment section, sharing, “Praying for them today. We all need prayer and sometimes when you get to our level, people think we don’t need anything. But we all need prayer. Join me today and help me pray for their family.”
He doubled down on this stance, reiterating that his words were rooted in uplifting the family impacted by Diddy’s absence.
“I’m not condoning the accusations, but I was merely asking for us to pray for his family,” he added. “I wanted us to pray for his kids. Who knows if they need strength today? Was just praying for another human being because it’s been many nights I needed prayer.”
Baby Blue’s words come at a time when Diddy is dealing with a new battle behind bars. In recent days, he was reportedly involved in a prison brawl, which landed him in solitary confinement. His current release date is slated for February 2028.
