Kehlani Calls Cult Allegations Involving Her Daughter a “Heartbreaker” After Winning Full Custody [Video]

Kehlani has confirmed that she now has full custody of her daughter, Adeya Nomi.

The 30-year-old singer shared the news during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” addressing the legal battle with her ex-boyfriend, Javie (Javaughn) Young-White, which captured public attention last summer. The custody fight began after Young-White accused Kehlani of being involved in a cult, claiming it influenced how she raised Adeya.

In a July filing, he stated the cult “controls her actions and her behavior, including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.” He further alleged that Adeya had been left in the care of this group, adding, “The environment that she has created for herself is not the type of environment that a child should be living.”

In August, Kehlani responded to the allegations by filing for a restraining order. She relied on her legal team and faith in God to guide her through the emotionally taxing ordeal, which she admitted was particularly difficult given her daughter’s involvement. While she could withstand the accusations herself, seeing Adeya’s name attached to such claims was a “heartbreaker.”

During the interview, when asked if she had any communication with Young-White following the proceedings, Kehlani replied, “No.” She made it clear that the cult allegations were completely false and addressed the public reaction from those hoping the claims would be true.

“Yeah, it’s a tough situation,” she said. “Ultimately, the claims were false…he back tracked a lot…and a lot of it just got refuted. People who were very obsessed with disliking me and were waiting for a ‘gotcha’ moment again…will hold onto that forever.”

Kehlani also reflected on the broader impact of the situation, noting, “That’s not really my ministry to change their mind. We have a lot of misery on this Earth and hopefully they find some healing.”

She and Young-White have not been together since shortly after Adeya’s birth in March 2019, and it appears they will continue to have no contact moving forward.
