Lawrence Taylor Jr., the son of former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in a Georgia case involving two girls under the age of consent.
According to court reporting, Taylor Jr. was arrested in 2013 and charged with statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and statutory aggravated sodomy. He reportedly entered a guilty plea just before his trial was set to begin on Monday. Reports say he was sentenced to 30 years, with eligibility for release after serving 10.
One of the victims told reporters she was glad he is off the streets, though she said she wished the sentence had been longer. The victims have not been named.
His father, Lawrence Taylor, pleaded guilty in 2010 to misdemeanor charges in a separate New York case and was required to register as a sex offender.
