On Tuesday, Jackie MacMullan of ESPN.com reignited rumors of LeBron James’ potential departure at the end of the 2017-18 season.

According to reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar refused to commit to the team beyond this season when owner Dan Gilbert asked about his future with the team. Apparently, the conversation occurred during trade talks that led to the blockbuster trade exchange of Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas and more.

Although James said he intends to spend the rest of his legendary career with his hometown team, the baller has a player option that could make him an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, Bleacher Report states.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Anytime I’m able to be a free agent or my contract ends, I’ll approach that when the summer comes. At the end of the day, I have a contract and I will fill out that obligation, which I’ve always done,” he said in September.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to reports, James’ sour relationship with Gilbert could affect his decision to stay in his hometown, and if he decides to depart for the second time, several teams have lined up in preparation for the potential scenario.

Do you think LeBron will leave Cleveland again?
