Lil Wayne has finally responded to the idea of a Boosie Verzuz, and he kept it all the way light. On a new episode of the In The Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu podcast, Wayne was asked about Boosie calling him out, and instead of firing back, he laughed and joked that he couldn’t mess with Boosie.

It all started earlier this month when a clip of Boosie surfaced online on October 9. In the video, Boosie was talking with a group about who could see him in a Verzuz and made it clear he was not worried about anybody. “Man, I’m Him!” he said, pointing to how long he’s been in the game. He even compared himself to Kobe, saying, “I got two Hall of Fames, real talk.”When somebody in the room threw out Lil Wayne’s name as his toughest possible opponent, Boosie did not flinch.
“You go get Wayne, I’m gon’ stand up like a [expletive] champ.”
Boosie made it clear there’s no beef between them. He just believes his catalog can stand toe to toe with anybody’s, even Weezy’s.
When the clip came up on In The Bayou, Wayne didn’t take the bait. He laughed it off and jokingly handed Boosie the win. The hosts, Tyrann Mathieu and Tyrell McCall, then told Wayne something he apparently didn’t know: Boosie served time in Louisiana’s Angola prison. Wayne looked genuinely surprised and joked that a place like that is where some of the best lyrics come from.
Fans can’t agree on what Wayne meant. Some think he was showing his fellow Louisiana legend respect, others are convinced he was being sarcastic, and plenty from back home say there’s no world where Boosie’s catalog beats Wayne’s. Wayne has also said before that he isn’t interested in doing a Verzuz at all, which might explain why he was so quick to laugh it off.
For now, there’s no Boosie Verzuz with Wayne on the calendar. But if Boosie was looking for someone to say he’d win, he just got it from the man himself, joke or not.
