A man seen on home surveillance video appearing to grab a woman and pull her into a car in Las Vegas has been arrested, CBS News reports.
According to police, the footage was recorded just before 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day. It shows a woman running onto a home’s front porch after seemingly getting out of a white car, with a man right behind her. The man is seen grabbing her and dragging her back to the car. The homeowner sent the video to police.
Police Captain Dennis O’Brien said the video was key because the woman yelled the man’s name during the incident. “We had a name,” he said. Police say a later call in another area reported a domestic dispute between a woman and her boyfriend, and the name and description matched. Police identified the suspect as 23 year old Darnell.
CBS News reports that officers learned the couple argued after a New Year’s Eve party and that the woman got out of the car, leaving the couple’s 1 month old baby in the back seat. The woman was found safe, and Child Protective Services is now involved, according to the report.
Darnell is in custody and faces kidnapping and domestic battery charges. A response from him was not available in the reports, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
