Police in Austin, Texas say an argument over the Dallas Cowboys ended in the death of a woman at her home on Sunday.
According to a police affidavit, Magdalena was watching the Cowboys game at home with her husband when his 20 year old son, Pontrey, came back from a walk. The affidavit says he believed she was disrespecting his father by gloating about the win. Police say he then took a knife he had hidden behind the couch earlier in the day and stabbed her several times.
Authorities say he ran from the apartment after his father stepped in, and officers found him about ten minutes later in a nearby grassy area. The affidavit also states he had first considered harming his younger sister before deciding on a different plan. Police did not say why.
Magdalena was pronounced dead at the hospital. Pontrey was arrested and was being held on $500,000 bond. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
